Himalayan Cedarwood Essenital Oil

An Essential Oil that Benefits Our Skin, Hair, Mind & Heart

Himalayan Cedarwood and Atlas Cedarwood are the only true cedar essential oils. (Texas & Virginian are actually junipers.) Himalayan is smoother and sweeter than Atlas - and has less camphor. When I first fell in love with this oil, I described its aroma "like butter poured onto a forest."

This essential oil is made from the wood of the Deodar cedar - a majestic silver-blue conifer that can grow to be 150 feet tall when in its native habitat of Tibet, northern India, Nepal, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It's reported to live for as long as 1,000 years.

I liken this tree to Ferdinand - the bull who just wanted to lay about and smell flowers all day. It's big andimposing but really it wants to be a delicate flower. It has large cones that have a blue hue when young and then turn a reddish purple. And, when those large cones open to release seeds, they look like roses.

Himalayan Cedarwood is propbably my favorite essential oil. I've used it in nearly half of my blends - but it's more than just the smell I love.

Himalayan Cedarwood is a well-rounded oil. It's a sedative that relaxes the body, eases tenson, soothes sore muscles, and promotes healthy sleep. In Oso Good, I paired it with a Bulgarian sweet lavender, creating a powerful anti-insomnia aid that works great as a linen spray, added to a bath, or used in a massage oil.

But, even though it's a sedative, it can also be stimulating. It improves concentration, boosts memory, and clears the mind.

Himalayan Cedarwood is also a major player in the complex Synergy Blend Lightness Of Being - a blend with 6 citrus oils and 6 conifer oils, designed to release stress. I love this blend so much that I gasp out loud everytime I open that bottle. (Sometime I'll tell you about my journey trying to understand why citrus and conifer oils work so well together.)

Our skin and hair also love Himalayan Cedarwood because it is anti-inflammatory, antibacteria, antifungal, antiseptic, and astringent.

It soothes irritated skin, regulates sebum, and and eases dry itchy scalp. It reduces sympstoms of dandruff and improves scalp circulation which can reduce hair fall and promote hair growth.

Himalayan Cedarwood is a liberating oil. It embues us with courage and the ability to tap into resiliency. It helps us navigate change during difficult times - which is why it is one of four oils in Repose And Resilience. This blend of Himalayan Cedarwood, Neroli, Palmarosa, and Lavender was designed to support people grieving or recovering from trauma. It removes stress, nervous tension, and eases emotional exhaustion while building up courage and sparking optimism and moments of joy.
