Using a dime-size amount (two pumps), a 1-ounce bottle will last around 2 months if used daily or 4-5 months if used weekly. Using a nickel-size amount (three pumps), a 3.3-ounce bottle will last 2 months if used daily or 4-5 months if used weekly.

Use daily to once a week. Apply a small amount of oil, working in sections and adding more as needed.

Very dry skin or chapped skin

Use daily or as needed until your skin recovers.

Cleanse and tone your face and neck. Put one pump of serum (a pea-sized amount ) on your fingertips and rub together to warm and evenly distribute the oil. Gently massage the serum onto face and neck, focussing on the driest or chapped areas. Avoid the soft tissue near your eyes. Wait a minute to allow serum to fully absorb then apply your favorite moisturizer.

Use daily or as needed until your skin & hair recovers. Cleanse your face/beard. Towel dry your beard but leave it slightly damp. Start by massaging a pea-sized amount of oil onto skin and hair roots, working both across the grain and with the grain to ensure full coverage. Then, brush your fingers along the sides and front of your beard. Finally, from the bottom, bring fingers up and through your beard.

Curly or Coily Hair, Thick Hair, Dry/Itchy/Flaky Scalp

Use as needed. This is best done by people with curly & coily hair, thick hair, dry & itchy scalp, or flaky, dry scalp.

Massage a nickel-sized amount of oil onto your scalp and hair roots. Exert some pressure to aid circulation. Move your fingers in different directions and in circular motions. Add more serum, as necessary to ensure full coverage. Leave in overnight and wash as normal the next morning.

Detangle and boost softness by adding a pea-sized amount of oil to your favorite conditioner.

Tame frizz and fly-aways by applying to dry hair. Seal in moisture by applying to damp hair.

Put one pump of serum (a pea-sized amount) on the palms of your hands and rub for a few seconds to warm and evenly distribute the oil. Lightly brush your palms over the top of your hair, run fingers through your hair, then rub remaining oil on the ends.

You can finish with a low-heat blow out for smooth, shiny hair.

Use once per week. This method is one of the best ways to use hair oil. It prevents dehydration, prevents your hair from getting water-logged, & prevents shampoo from stripping your narural oils.

Put two to three pumps of serum (a nickel-sized amount) in your palms then rub together to lightly warm the oil. Grab a small section of hair and run the lower portion through your hand to coat with oil. Apply more oil in small amounts until all ends of your hair have been coated. No need to saturate. Keep the serum in for 1+ hours or overnight, then wash and condition as normal. (You may need to wash twice or use a clarifying shampoo.)

Do not use on an open wound.

Consult your doctor prior to use if you:

  • have epilepsy or any other seizure disorder

  • are pregnant

  • are using any medication that thins the blood (prescribed, aspirin, etc)

  • have a chronic medical condition

  • use any prescription medication

This product is for external use only. Do not ingest. Spot test prior to use. Avoid applying near the eyes. Use only the advised amount. Discontinue use should you have an adverse reaction or if there is a noticeable change to the color, texture, or aroma. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Natural products have a shorter shelf life than most health and beauty care products so Deer Heart Solutions creates small-batch, hand-made products. You are getting the freshest products we can provide.

To prolong the life of your product and prevent oxidation or bacterial growth, keep the top firmly closed and store your bottle out of direct sunlight and away from heat and moisture.

African Water Buffalo

The African Water Buffalo

The African Buffalo symbolizes nourishment and fertile lands. They show us the value of perseverance in our pursuit of greener pastures. Their herds can be in the thousands – they’re stronger when working together, for their group effort is what brings abundance. Their example is to work hard while being humble and acknowledging those who make life better And, they remind us of the value in leaving places in better condition than how we found them.

Even when we are wild and free there is value in building community. By recognizing the good in our lives and the tangible and intangible things given to us, we can break away from negative thinking, get a new perspective, and forge a new path. We learn lessons that change our lives for the better, such as:

  1. No matter how difficult times may get, there is always something or someone to be grateful for.

  2. Much of the good in our lives comes from outside ourselves.

  3. Our lives are better when we bring goodness into others’ lives.

Gratitude and acknowledgment, combined, are the gateway to more empathy, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of happiness and well-being. So - have an attitude of gratitude.

African Buffalo (no relation to the Bison of North America) are listed as Near Threatened even though around 400,000 to 650,000 of these bovines roam the African landscape. This is because they face habitat fragmentation and conflicts with humans. In fact, Water Buffalo are often cited as being the most deadly of the Big Five - the most dangerous animals to hunt in Africa. (The other four are leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and lions.) Water Buffalo kill around 200 people every year - and when hunted by humans, they will counter-attack - and they rarely lose. This is why an herbivore is called "Black Death" by hunters - they kill more hunters in Africa than any other wildlife animal.
