SUGGESTED USES

Unlike our other products, Brigid's Cross is specifically for use as a scalp serum with the application method detailed below. If you are using Brigid's Cross to reduce hair fall, before you start using, give your hairbrush a thorough cleaning/sanitizing or purchase a new brush. You might also get a scalp massager/brush to boost circulation.

HOW TO APPLY

Before bed, place a dime-sized amount of serum on your fingertips and gently rub them together to warm and evenly distribute the oil. Massage the serum into your scalp, at the roots of your hair. Exert pressure while massaging, moving your fingers in different directions and in circular motions. Add more serum, as necessary, to ensure full coverage, but you do not need to saturate your hair. These oils absorb quickly - and we want them IN the skin, not on it. Leave in overnight then shampoo and condition the following morning.

HAIR FALL REGIMEN

Days 1-7: Apply once per day - before bed. Leave in over night and shampoo and condition in the mornings.

Days 8-21: Twice per week, apply before bed and shampoo and condition the following morning.

Days 21-28: Stop applying during the fourth week to see how your scalp is doing and to prevent your scalp from "getting used to" the serum.

If you would like to resume the regimen, try applying every two - three days for two weeks then take another one-week break.

GENERAL SCALP CARE REGIMEN

To boost scalp health or maintain a healthy scalp, apply before bed and leave in overnight as often as once per week or as infrequently as once a month.

Discontinue use should you have an adverse reaction or if there is a noticeable change to the color, texture, or aroma. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

STORING YOUR OIL

Natural products have a shorter shelf life than most health and beauty care products because they do not use the same type or same amounts of chemical preservatives. This is one reason Deer Heart Solutions creates small-batch, hand-made products - so you are getting the freshest products we can provide.

To prolong the life of your product and prevent oxidation or bacterial growth, keep the top firmly closed and store your bottle out of direct sunlight and away from heat and moisture.

THE IMAGERY & SYMBOLISM OF BRIGID'S CROSS

Highland Cow

The Highland Cow

Originally a Celtic Goddess, Brigid’s name means 'Exalted One'. Her name was invoked more often and more fervently than any other in Ireland. She was so loved and revered, when Christianity took over, she was made into Saint Brigid of Ireland. Christiantity spread her name around the globe. Brigid's is so impactful that she has been embraced by the followers of Vodou in Haiti - who call her Maman Brigitte. She is the only Ioa (spirit) to have an origin entirely outside of Africa.

Brigid is a Sun Goddess who hangs her cloak on the rays of the sun. She is the Goddess of Fire, whose red hair radiates light, as if it was fire itself. She is the Goddess of Dawn, Springtime, and Regeneration. She is the protector of mothers, children, and domesticated animals - thus her association with the Highland Cow. She is the Goddess of Poetry, bringing wisdom and knowledge through song. She is the Goddess of Healing, Divination and Prophecy.

One of her most ancient names is Breo-saighead, which means 'Fiery Arrow'. Within that name is her vengeful and punishing side that administers divine justice. But, Brigid ultimately grew to be the Goddess of Peace and Unity.

Brigid embodies light and energy, regeneration and healing, vitality and new beginnings. She reminds us that better times are coming and she is the perfect representation for this blend of rejuvenating oils.

CONSERVATION

While many of the animals I take inspiration from have targeted conservation efforts, Scotland is using native and rare breed Highland Cattle to aid in conservation efforts. While using cattle to improve biodiversity may seem counterintuitive to many of us, in Scotland, these bovines help keep invasive species at bay and boost biodiversity. Since beginning their conservation grazing program, Scotland has seen an increase in the number and visibility of birds, invertebrates, and other animals. Learn more here.
