SUGGESTED USES

If using two-pumps of oil once a day, a 110 mL (3.7 oz) bottle will last you around four to five months.

HAND / BODY OIL

Use daily to once a week. As a body oil, it is best when applied after a shower but you can use it anytime. If you have extremely dry skin, try applying it before your shower. This will prevent soap from stripping your skin of natural oils.

To apply, rub two to three pumps of oil in your hands to warm the oil then massage into skin. Work in small sections, adding small amounts of oil as needed.

CONDITIONER BOOST

Detangle and boost softness by adding one pump of oil to your conditioner.

SEALANT / STYLING AID (& HAIR FRAGRANCE)

Tame frizz and fly-aways by applying to dry hair. Seal in moisture by applying to damp hair.

Put one pump of serum (a pea-sized amount) on the palms of your hands and rub for a few seconds to warm and evenly distribute the oil. Lightly brush your palms over the top of your hair and run fingers through your hair. Rub remaining oil on the ends.

You can finish with a low-heat blow out for smooth, shiny hair.

PRE-SHAMPOO / OVERNIGHT TREATMENT

Use once per week. This method is one of the best ways to use hair oil. It prevents dehydration, prevents your hair from getting water-logged, and prevents shampoo from stripping your natural oils.

Put two pumps of serum in your palms and rub together to lightly warm the oil. Grab a small section of hair and run the lower portion through your hand to coat with oil. Apply more serum in small amounts until all ends of your hair have been coated. (No need to saturate.) Leave in for 1 or more hours or overnight, then wash and condition as normal. (You may need to wash twice or use a clarifying shampoo.)

SAFETY

Avoid direct sun exposure for 12 hours after using this blend.

Consult your doctor prior to use if you:

  • are pregnant

  • take selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)

  • have a chronic medical condition

  • use any prescription medication.

For external use only. Do not ingest. Spot test prior to using. Discontinue use should you have an adverse reaction. Use only the advised amount. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not apply near your eyes. Discontinue use if there is a noticeable change to color, texture, or aroma.

STORING YOUR PRODUCT

Natural products have a shorter shelf life than most health and beauty care products because they do not use the same type or same amounts of chemical preservatives. This is one reason Deer Heart Solutions creates small-batch, hand-made products - so you are getting the freshest products we can provide.

To prolong the life of your product and prevent oxidation or bacterial growth, keep the top firmly closed. Store your bottle out of direct sunlight and away from heat and moisture.

THE IMAGERY & SYMBOLISM OF YA BAD SELF

Peacock

The Peacock

The peacock is honored and celebrated around the world and so there are many ideas associated with this beautiful bird - power, strength, confidence, growth and rejuvenation, honor, integrity, and protection. The peacock is the national bird of India and its iconography is prevalent in Hinduism and Buddhism.

Peacocks are known for killing snakes - even poisonous ones. People will place peacock feathers above their door to keep snakes away. The snake can be symbolic of the ego, so the peacock's killing of snakes represents humility and integrity.

One creation story says the peacock got its beautiful feathers from Indra, the King of Deities who brings the rain. Here, rain represents renewal and rejuvenation. Another creation story says the peacock was a simple brown-feathered bird that encountered a deadly snake. When it fought and killed the snake, the bird ate it. The venom transformed the bird's feathers into an array of beautiful colors. This tail shows us how we can transform into a better version of ourselves when we face difficulties.

There are many Gods and Goddesses associated with the peacock.

  • The most common association is with Lakshmi, a Supreme Goddess who assists Vishnu in creating, protecting, and transforming the universe. She is the Goddess of Good Fortune, Compassion, and Fortitude.

  • The warrior, Krishna, adorns himself with peacock feathers, and so the peacock represents strength and power.

  • The peacock is also associated with the goddess Saraswati, who represents benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and knowledge.

Several Hindu gods are depicted as riding a peaock:

  • Kaumari, the Mother Goddess who is the destroyer of illusion

  • Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, and art

  • Mayuresvara , who is an incarnation of Ganesh, the remover of obstacles

  • Maruga (a.k.a. Kartikeya), an ancient philosopher God

  • Kama, the God of love and lust, rides his peacock around the world to replace anger and hate with feelings of love

The end of a relationship brings many rough emotions and harmful negative thinking. When dealing with this, as you process your emotions, remember to protect yourself. Replace anger with compassion and kindness. Be courageous, strong, and patient as you move forward. And use the experience to transform into a better version of yourself.
